The Mat-Su Miners have confirmed their official 27-man roster for Alaska Baseball League play in the summer of 2024. No players are returning from last summer's ABL runners-up squad, but seventh-year head coach Tyler LeBrun's team still has big shoes to fill.
PITCHERS

RHP Hayden Hattenbach – SR, UC – Santa Barbara
LHP Ashton Johnson – SO, Southern Idaho
LHP Luke Smith – JR, Incarnate Word
LHP Ben DeTaeye – Redshirt-SR, Iowa
The pitching staff this season is dominated by righties – it's the first time since 2008 that a Miners team featured fewer than four southpaws. Johnson and Hostetler each come in having thrown over sixty innings during their collegiate seasons, while DeTaeye brings a 2.89 ERA across over 18 bullpen innings for a D-I Iowa squad while also being Mat-Su's oldest player. Wasilla native Nolan Murphy makes it eight straight years with at least one locally grown talent in the Miners' ranks.
INFIELDERS
Corner-INF Chase Wilcox – Redshirt-FR, Central Missouri
Corner-INF Christian Perez – FR, Grand Canyon
Middle-INF Dom Patrizi – SO, Lehigh
Middle-INF Nick Bisaccia – SO, Seton Hall
1B Nick Ferri – SO, Seton Hall
This year's infield is full of previously-established chemistry, featuring Lehigh teammates Cochran and Patrizi and Seton Hall teammates Bisaccia and Ferri. Wilcox hit .385 with 4 home runs for a Central Missouri squad that's currently ranked second in all of D-II baseball.
OUTFIELDERS
OF Kellen Strohmeyer – Redshirt-FR, Iowa
OF Ryker Schow – FR, BYU
OF Drake Kerr – JR, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
OF Kyle McCausland – JR, Middlebury
The outfield is anchored by McCausland, one of the greatest hitters in Middlebury College history. The junior brings a .343 batting average and 11 home runs, plus a previously-acquired NESCAC Player of the Year award during his program record-setting 2023. Schow and Kerr's 70 combined starts during their respective collegiate seasons help to round out a battle-tested unit.
CATCHERS
C Logan Vaughan – JR, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
C Ian Francis – JR, Youngstown State
C Brandyn Durand – SO, Bryant
Mat-Su's catching unit is the team's most experienced group, with all three bringing over 40 collegiate starts. Francis not only paces the trio with 51, but is also the only player on the roster to start every game he appeared in during this past collegiate season. Durand's 11 home runs tie him for the pre-season club lead.
The roster is set, and the action begins on Wednesday, June 5th at 6 pm in Anchorage!
