Miners bounce back big in win against the Bucs
The Miners beat the Bucs 7-4 in road win
After the Miners first two o'clock game, they are back above .500 with a bounce back win over the Anchorage Bucs, and the offense has taken strides in the right direction the past two games while the pitching stays strong.
The big RHP Colin Roos got the start and was great on the bump. After a first inning single he retired 14 in a row, faced the minimum through the next five and did it getting nine of those outs on eight ground balls.
The offense struck first in the fifth off the bat of centerfielder Matthew Bline, who singled to left and drove in two. The Miners then exploded in the seventh, plating five to make it 7-0, their biggest lead at any point of the season.
It was for sure their most complete half-inning on the season so far. Declan Spooner and Kanyon Millar singled, Kash Millar moved them over, and Spooner scored on a passed ball. Tyler Akers walked, stole second and Bline drove in two more with another single, giving him four RBI on the afternoon. Austin Park tripled to center field and then stole home on the throw back to the mound to make it five in the inning.
However, The Bucs would respond plating four themselves. Two free passes, a single to right with an error scored two, and an inside-the-park homer made it 7-4. On the homerun, Bline and Alex Pearson collided both trying to make a slding and diving grab on the fly ball to right-center. Bline had to leave the game but was able to walk off on his own.
That put an end to Roos's outing, who had a much more impressive day than what his line would show: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K.
RHP Connor Mondey would come iin looking to halt the Bucs comeback momentum, and he did so perfectly, tossing two scoreless with two K's.
RHP Brady Clark entered in the ninth and picked up the save, his second on the season. He's now tossed eight scoreless as a Miner.
The Miners are back in Anchorage at Mulcahy Stadium today 6 P.M. AKDT against the Glacier Pilots, who beat the Miners 3-2 on the four days ago and have won three in a row. You can watch the game live on the Mat-Su Miners YouTube.
