Miners pounce the Oilers in game one of four in the Peninsula
Offensive explosion supports pitching staff in Miners' win
Three perfect innings in relief for Jonathan Anders with six strikeouts, paired with late offense propels the Mat-Su Miners over the Peninsula Oilers 14-7 Saturday night at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Kenai.
Down 1-0 going into the third inning, the Miners spurted seven runs across in the top half on eight hits, with four of them being for extra bases. The inning highlighted with Will Millard's two-run home run.
Across the board the Miners came through in big spots against the Oilers. Combined for eight two-out RBI and hit 9-18 with two outs. Additionally, with runners on, Mat-Su hit 10-24.
Tied up at seven through seven innings, the Miners added three in the eighth inning after an error and Diesel Toth's 2-RBI single. In the ninth Toth got his third hit of the night and third RBI. Luke Hewes finished with three hits and Jackson Babcock had three RBI.
