Miners Blank the Glacier Pilots for the Second Time this Season
Miners move to 10-5 in the Alaska Baseball League
The Mat-Su Miners defeated the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 6-0 in another shutout win Monday night. The Miners are the first to 10 wins in the Alaska Baseball League, moving to 10-5, and dropping the Glacier Pilots 6-7.
The Miners' pitching staff had everything working in their favor today. Josh Jansen got the start of the bump and threw five innings on his way to his second win of the season versus the Glacier Pilots.
Greyson Chappell, Blake Encarnacion, and Gabe Smith teamed up to pitch a scoreless last three innings after Jansen.
The Miners' offense didn't have a quiet day either. Mat-Su racked up 13 hits on the day, including 10 of those hits coming with two outs. Carter Geffre hit an opposite-field home run deep into right field to start the scoring early in the first inning. Four of the six Miner runs came in the 3rd inning when Evan Bolger smacked a RBI single and was followed by a three-run double off the bat of Carter Eberhard.
The Miners will play the Bucs for the sixth time this season tomorrow and will aim to extend their lead at the top of the ABL standings.
